| 648St.Clair Flats Blue-winged Teal Drake blue-winged teal, St Clair Flats area,ca. 1930s. Hollow-carved with a bottom board, glass eyes and nice details around the bill. The neck shelf suggests that this decoy might be from the Canadian side. There are no markings to positively identify this fine old bird. This is a nice example of a hand-carved hunting block. The surface is a working repaint. The physical condition is excellent. The decoy measures about 14 inches from bill to tail.

| 649Toronto-School (?) Canvasback Very nicely carved, hollow canvasback decoy from the famous St. Clair Flats, Michigan, ca. 1920's, possibly earlier. The carving is similar to those made by the Toronto school of decoy makers: he has a delicate neck shelf, the head is simple yet effective, and he has glass eyes. The bill has been repaired and the work is hard to detect. The surface has been restored to look and feel as if it is old. Any weight or keel has been removed and the decoy sits flat. He measures about 15 inches from bill to tail. The slightly turned head is very pleasing.
